Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I may remember. Involve me and I learn.

INTRO
How do you make sure you give every student what they need?
Develop an understanding of purposeful learning—intentional instructional design aligned with a holistic vision for readiness—and the role purposeful learning plays in establishing a universal (every period, every day) approach that supports each and every student.
In this activity, your team will discuss what purposeful learning means to you (teachers, staff, and leaders) in your school, and begin to develop a set of tools to support purposeful learning every period of every day at your site.
OBJECTIVES
- Assess how much purposeful learning is happening in your school
- Begin to develop a set of tools to support purposeful learning every period of every day at your site
ACTIVITY
The below activity is designed for staff, teachers, and your leadership team.
- Take a minute and write down some thoughts on what Purposeful Learning means to you.
- Watch the provided video about how we describe Purposeful Learning within the Inflexion Approach.
- Rate and provide evidence as to whether your school is employing Purposeful Learning schoolwide using the following definition and scale:
DEFINITION: Purposeful Learning is an intentional design for learning that aligns with a holistic Vision for Readiness (and the Four Keys: Think, Know, Act, Go). It is implemented in a way that meets the individual interests, aspirations, and needs of every student.
SCALE:
1. Not at all
2. Somewhat
3. For the most part
4. Totally
A score of 1 (one) reflects that there is little being done intentionally schoolwide.
A 4 (four) would suggest that you have explicit structures and practices schoolwide to support this.
