Todd’s Story
Todd Miller’s path in education has been shaped by a deep commitment to student success and a passion for solving complex challenges in service of schools and communities. His journey began as a first-year special education instructional assistant—a role that revealed his lifelong calling. From that moment forward, Todd dedicated himself to the belief that every student deserves support, opportunity, and someone who will never give up on them.
During his nine years leading in the Santiam Canyon School District, Todd oversaw a remarkable transformation. Graduation rates climbed from a three-year average of 68% to 88%, and student programming expanded significantly, including the addition of daily PE and music for elementary students, new CTE programs, enriched core instruction, and a broader range of electives. He also led the creation of a free preschool for all district families, funded through private foundations, to ensure equitable access from the earliest years of learning.
Todd’s impact extended beyond academics. He led the district’s first-ever successful school construction bond, resulting in a $28 million capital project that was completed on time, within budget, and beyond expectations. His approach—grounded in transparency, fiscal responsibility, and community engagement—earned lasting trust. Even amidst the devastation of regional wildfires, Todd helped guide the district through recovery and returned all students to daily, in-person learning faster than any neighboring district, a testament to his thoughtful planning and collaborative leadership.
In 2025, Todd will begin a new chapter as the superintendent of South Lane School District. He brings with him a belief in shared leadership, resilience, and the power of people working together. In the Portico community, he hopes to help fellow educators find solutions, grow in confidence, and navigate the challenges of school leadership with purpose and joy. For Todd, the work of supporting school leaders is not just important—it’s essential to the future of our students, our schools, and our communities.
